Long-Lasting Liquid Lipsticks & Crayons

Long-Lasting Liquid Lipsticks & Crayons

“In the summertime, when the weather is fine, you can stretch right up and touch the sky…” The sunshine and warmer weather brings with it not only open toed sandals, light jackets and basket bags, but the need to turn those nude shades into something bolder and brighter. When your eyes are mostly covered by sassy sunglasses your lips become the focal point of your face, providing a real opportunity to inject some colour into your look with very little effort – especially with a couple of long-lasting liquid lipsticks. This Summer I’m a big fan of a pink, red, coral or berry toned lip in the summer months; you can afford to be understated (or even lazy) with the rest of your look when a pop of colour brings to life your complexion and makes you feel like sunshine bottled!

When you’re sipping on a cold glass of rose in a pub garden, or enjoying a long walk with a coffee in hand, the last thing you want to worry about though is your lipstick. For me long-lasting formulas are great for this time of year, as my lips aren’t too dry from the wind / central heating / sub zero UK temperatures, and provide a great way to ensure I’m looking and feeling great all day long. If you’re in the market for something new now the summer is out, here are seven of my current fave long-lasting liquid lipsticks I’d definitely recommend whether you’re a novice or expert…

Pixi MatteLast Liquid Lipstick* (£16.00)
An absolute go-to for when I want a red to last all day, these super lightweight formula is incredibly pigmented and feels almost invisible on the lips (if applied correctly.) You can create a really beautifully precise finish that doesn’t budge or dry out lips, plus it fades subtly so you don’t look like you’re walking around with some dodgy 90’s lip liner! Available in fourteen different shades, this is relatively costly but totally worth it; it’s taken me from winter to summer with ease and is a risk free introduction to long-lasting liquid lipsticks.

Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink* (£9.99)
One of the only lipsticks that actually causes other women to ask me what I’m wearing, this bold pink shade (Romantic 30 FYI!) really creates an impact. It took me a while to get used to this formula, as if you apply too much it can be super sticky and doesn’t dry down very well, but once I did it’s become a firm favourite for when I really want my lip colour to pack a punch. It doesn’t take a lot of product to create the powerful pigment, instead, it’s best to remove the excess from the applicator and delicately layer up the colour – allowing for dry time in between. It stays in place throughout endless cans of Diet Coke and coconut lattes too, although I tend to remove it completely rather than attempting to re-apply over the top: for some reason, it can cake and flake, and never really feels as fresh as when you apply from scratch.

Topshop Longwear Liquid Lipstick* (£12.00)
Another great liquid lipstick, I adore the bold pink shade and the matte effect it leaves on my pout. It’s not at all uncomfortable, dries really fast and doesn’t cake even when you re-apply over the top. I love it when you discover unexpected gems from unexpected brands, and this Topshop beauty is a real find for liquid lipstick and bold colour lovers alike.
