Over ten percent of men over the age of 25 experience regular adult acne breakouts. So, you are definitely not alone.
Acne is a skin condition that presents itself as blackheads, whiteheads, pimples, or cysts. Like most things in life, there are a multitude of different causes. For some, it’s hereditary, the heat can cause a flare up, a change in medication or the most common cause is a shift in hormone levels.
Excess oil produced by the skin clogs up the pores, predominantly on the face and produces bacteria leading to irritable skin. Acne has strong links to depression, in not only teenagers but adults too. It’s like a vicious cycle of depression, low self esteem and anxiety.
Introducing, Tea Tree.
The science behind it… Tea-tree oil is rich in terpinene-4-ol, which makes it significantly more effective in treating acne than commercial options. Tea tree oil works its way into skin pores, helping to disinfect the skin and help speed up the healing process when you have a breakout.
Other than tea tree oil, there are other prevention methods and although these may not work for everyone… You never know until you try right? After cleansing, use a light face scrub to wash away excess oil.
Don’t over do it though.
We recommend twice a week unless you are suffering from severe acne or breakouts, then we recommend very gently using a scrub once a week.
And lastly, be kind to your skin, don’t pop and pick at it. This will only lead to scarring, which is the last thing you want. When they told you not to pop spots as a kid, they really meant it!
