Day 1 – Exfoliate
On day 1, you want to start with a clean slate, so exfoliate away the old and prepare for the new. Cell repair and regeneration actually increases during sleep. Exfoliating removes these dead cells, and increases circulation which encourages skin to produce new and healthy cells. Improving circulation helps with the removal of toxins and impurities, clears the skin and leaves it glowing.
Day 2 – Hydrate
For starters, it is essential to drink plenty of water to ensure youthful, smooth skin. When skin is dehydrated, it lacks elasticity and fine lines and under eye circles often appear more pronounced. Hydrated skin, on the other hand, just glows, looking more plump and clear. Aim to drink at least two litres of good quality water per day. Additionally, hyaluronic acid is invaluable to the skin, as it acts like a sponge, holding onto vast amounts of water in the skin. This plumps out the skin and reduces fine lines and wrinkles. You can apply hyaluronic acid in a cream or serum, or alternatively, Beauty & Go’s bioactive beauty drinks contain hyaluronic acid. Drinking one SKIN BRILLIANCE daily can rapidly improve your skin’s hydration.
Day 3 – Manage Stress
Stress wreaks havoc on our skin. Stress can cause flare-ups and worsen pre-existing conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. Stress can impact sleep, and lack of sleep is linked to skin ageing. Additionally, stress can cause premature wrinkles, as cortisol, the primary stress hormone, has been known to break down the collagen in your skin. Book a massage, take a yoga class, take a walk with a friend. Doing whatever you can do to relax is key to younger looking skin.
Day 4 – Eat Green
Zinc, in particular, helps boost collagen production and can be found in seeds, nuts and dark green vegetables. Spinach is packed with folate (otherwise known as vitamin B9) and other B vitamins which help the growth and repair of skin cells. It doesn’t just have to be green vegetables. Eating the rainbow is key to youthful skin, with the darker and brighter the colour, the more nutrients.
Day 5 – Cut back on the sweet stuff
Excess sugar causes inflammation in the body, and inflammation produces enzymes that breakdown collagen and elastin, resulting in sagging skin and wrinkles. Opt for foods with a lower glycemic index.
Day 6 – Up the Antioxidants
Our skin is regularly exposed to damaging external factors including UV radiation and air pollution. This exposure can cause oxidative stress and induce the production of free radicals. Antioxidants help protect against damaging free radicals that cause ageing to the skin, including sagging, fine lines and wrinkles. Antioxidants work by neutralising free radicals, preventing and repairing any cell tissue damage, leaving your skin looking youthful and radiant. Beauty & Go’s bioactive drinks contain MACRO-antioxidants, which are larger and more powerful versions of regular antioxidants. These antioxidants are extracted from the skin of fruits, therefore they are not part of our usual diet.
Day 7 – Get lots of sleep
Finally, make sure that you get plenty of sleep. When you don’t get enough sleep, your body releases the stress hormone cortisol, which causes insulin levels to spike and causes an increase in the breakdown of collagen and hyaluronic acid, the molecules that give skin its glow and bounce. On top of that, sleep loss can lead to a lacklustre complexion, fine lines, and dark circles under the eyes. There really is such thing as beauty sleep
